After a summer of asking out of Cleveland, Kyrie Irving finally got his wish and what a blockbuster trade it was. Cleveland sent Kyrie Irving was sent to Boston in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Brooklyn Nets UNPROTECTED 2018 1st round pick. While Boston obviously got better by landing Irving and they have a surplus of picks and young players they can afford to trade, I think the Cavs got the better of this trade overall. This was an outstanding haul to get in return of Irving. Thomas is a very good point guard replacement with Rose as a solid backup, Crowder is a flexible player who gives the Cavs some badly needed depth and they also receive the Nets first round pick which can easily be the first pick of the draft. The Cavs not only got deeper but also set themselves up much better for the future, which was always an unspoken problem for them. They are now prepared for the inevitable Will he, Won't he sage in 2018 with Lebron as a free agent. Overall, in a trade that helped both teams, I give the Cavs the edge in this trade.
